Good night

Finishing some of the last of our criteria meetings.
We read the latest Grapevine in devotions this morning, and there's a super duper blurb in there from Anonymous, Earth (too bad; I was hoping to get news from the Family's space village) called A New Perspective On Blessings. GREAT STUFF. Good for poor people.

And I'm praying for you all too.

top 10 unintentionally worst company URLs

Attn: Entrepreneurs
Everyone knows that if you are going to operate a business in today’s world you need a domain name. It is advisable to look at the domain name selected as other see it and not just as you think it looks. Failure to do this may result in situations such as the following (legitimate) companies who deal in everyday humdrum products and services but clearly didn’t give their domain names enough consideration:

1. Want to holiday in Lake Tahoe? Try their brochure website at
www.gotahoe.com

2. Welcome to the First Cumming Methodist Church. Their website is
www.cummingfirst.com

3. If you’re looking for computer software, there’s always
www.ipanywhere.com

4. A site called ‘Who Represents‘ where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is
www.whorepresents.com

5. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at
www.expertsexchange.com

6. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at
www.penisland.net

7. Then of course, there’s the Italian Power Generator company…
www.powergenitalia.com

8. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at
www.therapistfinder.com

9. And now, we have the Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:
www.molestationnursery.com

10. Then, of course, there’s these brainless art designers, and their whacky website:
www.speedofart.com

I came...I saw...I clicked

I've been a little topsy-turvy health-wise the last few days, and today is my freeday. So I'm takin' it easy, having some word time and listening to some KEY PROMISE SONGS!!! (YEAH!!! Gotta love'em!) I've already memorized one blessed Dave Blossom creation, and I'm moving onto another. Hurrah for quick progress.
Just in case you thought this was going to turn into a post about my day, you were wrong! So wrong!
I'm getting a computer installed in my room until I get in my new fangdangled laptop. PTL, that increases my productivity rate. It will probably also increase time-spent-in-room, which will probably have a healthy effect on the cleanliness rate of my room as well. I could go down the list of how having a computer will affect all areas of my life, but I won't, because I know that would make for a seriously boring blog post! Ha, look how clever I am! Elaina, aren't you so glad that you blog with me and not...someone else?
Basically, the forthcoming moral of this post is that, through the eyes of love, aka romans 8:28 glasses...life is looking purty peachy!!!

I think FDTP is starting in about a month. AM I READY? AM I READY???

Nice!

We got this nice bag of goodies along with our bread pickup the other day. It had two lovely, lovely, skirts in it, an ingenious cloth book that will keep Shelly happily occupied forever and a day...
...and THE HAPPY FISHERMAN shirt.
Oh what a shirt.
Oh boy.
The best part is, Mark picked up the shirt and put it on, all, "Hey, sweet shirt, I like fishing." And walked out to the sinkroom to brush his teeth without looking closely at the picture gracing the front.
And as he watched himself in the mirror cleaning his pearly whites, he looked. Then his eyeballs fell into the sink and rolled down the drain with two gentle bloops. We're still working on retrieving them. Pray.
I yearn to post a picture of the t-shirt in question, but I'm concerned that someone might flag our blog for containing objectionable content.
What a bag of treats. Thank you so so much!

La la

I like songs about cute love.
About dancing.
About being brave.
About realizing mistakes.
About remembering wonderful things.
About being taken over.
About smart people.
About songs.
About being satisfied with simple things.
About giving everything you have.
About honesty.
About dancing.
About the wind.
About sacrifice.
About stars.
About parents.
About crying for other people.
About learning.
About adoration.
About random wonderful things.

I like thinking about songs.
I like writing words and never intending them to be songs. Just imagining what they would be if they were.
I like playing guitar real slow and real quiet and singing real slow and real quiet. Sometimes.
I like songs. I really want someone to write a good song for me to listen to. Thank you.

When you're lying looking at the sky
I wanna be the only star that shines
In the still darkness of the night
I wanna be the comforting light

When you're by the sea watching the ocean
I wanna be the sand between your toes
The shade that cools you, the breeze that loves you
The beauty that tantalizes you

I wanna be the arms that you love
To wrap around your heart
To love you in the secret twilight
Oh I wanna be those arms

When you're running through the desert in the rain
I wanna be the droplets on your lips
The rain that melts you, the sound that thrills you
The thunder that makes you feel alive.

The IRack

Postulation

I realized something very frightening. You know how, when you have a little extra time and are following links here and there to this blog and that, you come across blogs you've never seen before? And then you read the first post and you think either, "Ha, kind of a funny person. Maybe I'll read more." or "Whoa...seriously boring." or "Yeah, yeah, yeah," or "WOW, way over-doing the articulation about the pleasant winds that blow through the illuminated tree-branches"...
And the FIRST post that you read is the one that you tend to read like you would the blurb on the back of a book. "A book about the boring life of an inarticulate teenager who likes to post stupid comics about AIDS." Not so interesting, try another book?
I do it. If a first post is sorta normal, or if it's desperately overdone in an attempt to sound poetic and introspective, or if it's a bunch of birthday announcements, or if it's a row of amateur photography (or poetry), or a small blurb about something that I'm totally in the dark about ("Jason found me outside in the South House last night, and he found out about my plan!!! My sneaky poopooboy was there to make sure he mashed the sandwich!!!), then I usually forget about that blog and don't go there again.
It's quite frightening, because, I realize, with the abundance of random and retarded posts I've made on this blog over the period of 3 or whatever years, and judging by visitor stats, I must have had people read every single post I've ever written for the "first time". What did they think when I posted about a sperm statue? Or when Elaina posted a rotten banana? Or when I wrote a drawn-out, disinteresting post about first paragraphs and being misjudged on one's blog?
It's not so much that I'm afraid of being misjudged. I more or less feel confident that if someone reads this blog they don't have a contorted or disgusting idea of me. It's pretty close to reality. (Well, except, in reality I don't actually speak many many words in succession before the others respond--I am quite conversational.) But this is a decent portrayal of me because I don't feel right posting an overabundance of things without providing the proper balance. Like, I freak out when I scroll down the page and see mostly song-lyrics and poetry (even if they are Nancy Yitmas). Like DUDE, quick, find some retarded video from you-tube QUICK!!! Maybe that's my libra side kicking in. I don't like to see that I've been posting tons of photos without words, or tons of words without photos.
It just frightens me when someone might read a single paragraph and chuckle or scrunch their face or raise their eyebrow and then just...leave. Just...like..."Wow, okay, I've read enough." Then they know my name, and they see a little picture of me, and they associate me with that one post about...whatever.
ISN'T THAT SO SINISTER?

NOT a birthday post

For the following reasons:
1. Birthday posts are usually fairly on time, or at least apologize for being late.
2. Birthday posts are romantic, smart, sweet, and all those things, which are entirely out of character for me.
3. This post does not have a picture of the person whose birthday it celebrates, and so it does not classify as a true true blog birthday post.

If this is NOT a birthday post, it behooves me to tell you what it IS.
It is a small drop in celebration of a great ocean. It is late, and it is small, but it has a heart. It is a barely blossoming idea in commemoration of an ideal.
It is intentionally late. Maybe it should be more late. I figure if you're going to be late, you might as well run with it. Once I discovered that it was your birthday, I decided that, to post a birthday hurrah like as if I'd known all along would be close to evil deceit, and so, in depiction of the truly terrible and latent person that I am, I am saving my hurrah for later. Which is now. Maybe it will be more appreciated, now that you don't expect it. Maybe you won't even read it for a while, since you've finished making the blog rounds to see all the nice things people said about you. You might even laugh because I've spent a few paragraphs talking about everything BUT your birthday, and you.
Happy birthday. Thank you for being...you know...just...nice to me.
You're juuuust wonderful.
I think and think about you and never get tired of the thought of you.
I try to turn those thoughts into prayers. But somehow praying for you is not as fun as just...thinking about you. Cause when you pray you can't just go on and on and waste Jesus' time. Plus Jesus already knows how wonderful and smart and nice and...
I wish I could see you more.
I hope to cut out flannel graphs with you again one day.
Much love.

Showtime

My friends, it's time to write about something that matters.
Today we all loaded into the car and did a show at an old folks' home. I cannot tell you how fulfilling this show was for me, because it was one of the first shows that I actually felt a little responsible for. Sure I felt responsible for other shows too, but it was mostly myself I would disappoint if things went wrong...not other people.
To the left are three of the other people. Who did so well. And me, in red. Someone today said spandex would be more flattering than the big puffy pajama suit that I'm wearing. That's fine, I can take that stuff.
In the picture to the right (you'll notice I'm hunching over a guitar) we're dancing to that old old song "Everybody can be happy". Was that ever recorded anywhere? I can't hear an actual recording in my head, all I hear are the voices of Steve, Yosh and I singing that song for years and years branded into my brain.

And here you have Japan's ONE AND ONLY group of full-grown, dancing clowns.

And lastly, a picture of Michael and I making THE face that says "I think we're the only ones who realize our guitars are out of tune."

Best parts about this show: The kids did REAL well. They're not used to doing shows and don't really have so much of an understanding of what is actually fun to watch and what is actually embarrassing. It took a bit of pow-wow and "trust me, you'll see"s in order to coax them into dancing funny dances. But they did good! They were real good samples.
Yuji really wanted to sing. Usually I sing "Change the World", but he kept asking little hinting questions, and so I asked him to sing it. He was real surprised, but quite happy. He got a little nervous before he sang, but he sang it all the way through REAL well. A good little singer boy, he is. Anyway it freed me to concentrate all my attention on my guitar that was TOTALLY out of tune with Michael's guitar.
I was able to practice my emceeing skills (uh...able to conjure up some emceeing skills, TTL).
A little picture to leave you with a fuzzy feeling.
